FAQ
Is your meat halal?
Yes — all our red meat is halal. Everything is smoked in the same smokers, but the meats never touch. If that works for you, we’d love to have you.
Do you have gluten-free options?
Do you have any vegetarian dishes?
How does the free birthday dinner work?
I haven't received my free birthday voucher in my email, what do I do?
Fret not birthday-person! Sometimes our system is flooded with birthday registrations that it can glitch. We can assure you that if you have managed to put the registration through it IS in our system. When you arrive let us know your email and your date of birth and our staff will confirm it. Easy as birthday-cake!
What are the rules for the All You Can Eat Tuesday?
Oh, our all you can eat is the best in town! All you can eat meats from 5:30pm on Tuesdays. There are two simple rules. 1. Every person at the table must participate. It is because we keep bringing you meat! 2. You must finish your meat to get more meat. It is as simple as that. As long as you have the stomach space for it, we will keep bringing you the meats!
What about my child and All You Can Eat Tuesday?
Children under 12 do not have to participate and can have a separate item from the menu for them. Aged 12 and over, they count for the first rule of all you can eat, is that everybody must participate!
Price of the all you can eat.
Our All You Can Eat starts from $69 per person. We have a few different tiers and packages, so take a look at the menu on our website for the full details and what each option includes.
Can I bring a cake?
You can! We have a cakeage fee of $3.5 per person!
Do you deliver?
Yes we do! Although delivery range depends on the platform of your choice. We also offer take away family packs. We also do pick up if you are outside our delivery range
What delivery platforms are you on?
Do you have alcohol?
Why yes we do, as well as cocktails and other delicious drinks, both alcoholic and not.
Can I BYO?
Unfortunately no, we do not have a BYO licence. You can order from our drinks menu when you arrive.
How long do the specials stay on the menu?
Each special lasts for 1 month. From the 1st of the month to the end of the month. Sometimes, if we have the stock left over, we can offer a special for a few days afterwards but that is only until stock runs out. We do not recommend you expect this to happen for you as sometimes this does not happen. We also, due to popular demand, bring some specials back from time to time. If you want this, please yell and scream in the comments section of our social media. If enough people demand it, we do occasionally bring back a special for a month.
Can I take what I don't eat home?
If you can’t finish your meal, which sometimes you can’t because they are SO GIGANTIC, you can take the rest away.
Can I get the specials take away?
Yes. Now that makes them DOUBLE special!
Why do I have to order through a QR code?
We provide a digital menu on our tables for ease of service although you can order at the counter if you have cash, want to ask questions or have a special menu to order off (like our Birthday Menu). We have a digital menu ordering system as it helps our staff get to everybody and helps our ordering process. A lot of people really enjoy it as well.
Do you have gift cards?
Why yes we do! You can buy a Third Wave BBQ gift voucher online here – the perfect present for any BBQ lover.
What is with the booking deposit?
Our booking deposit is only temporary. We release the funds back after your booking unless you cancel within 24 hours. The booking deposit is NOT a discount or a voucher and is not taken off your bill since we release the money back to you after your booking.
Do Children have to participate in the all You Can eat?
What is the Delivery Range on your Catering?

Otherwise for smaller orders up to 15km
What is the Thor’s Hammer?
The Thor’s Hammer is Third Wave BBQ’s signature showstopper – a giant beef shank, marinated for 24 hours then slow-smoked for up to 12 hours, and a name we coined ourselves. It’s a permanent menu item priced at $199, and it’s the big, ridiculous-looking centrepiece our regulars keep coming back for.
Where are the Third Wave BBQ locations?
We're all over the place – in the best way! We've got six restaurants open right now: Albert Park (181 Victoria Ave, Albert Park VIC 3206), Moorabbin (20 Station St, Moorabbin VIC 3189), Hawthorn East (232-234 Riversdale Rd, Hawthorn East VIC 3123), Officer (Shop 7/43 Siding Ave, Officer VIC 3809) and Ascot Vale (508-510 Mt Alexander Rd, Ascot Vale VIC 3032) here in Victoria, plus Applecross (888 Canning Hwy, Applecross WA 6153) over in Perth. And keep your eyes peeled – the Gold Coast is getting one soon!
How many Third Wave BBQ restaurants are there?
Six and counting! Five across Melbourne – Albert Park, Moorabbin, Hawthorn East, Officer and Ascot Vale – plus one in Perth at Applecross. A Gold Coast venue is on the way too, so 'six' might be out of date by the time you're reading this.
What kind of food does Third Wave BBQ serve?
Proper American BBQ, done low and slow. Think slow-smoked brisket, pork ribs, beef ribs, our signature BBQ Thor's Hammer (a giant beef shank we named ourselves), juicy burgers, dry-aged steaks and loaded fries. If it's smoky, meaty and a little bit ridiculous in size, we probably do it.
How do I book a table at Third Wave BBQ?
Easy – we use OpenTable for bookings, with a separate page for each venue, so just pick the restaurant you're visiting and lock in your time. A refundable deposit applies (we release it back after your booking unless you cancel within 24 hours – it's not a discount and it doesn't come off your bill). Prefer a chat? Give your venue a call.
What are your opening hours?
Hours depend on which venue you're visiting! Albert Park and Ascot Vale: Mon-Thu 11:30am-10pm, Fri 11:30am-11pm, Sat 11am-11pm, Sun 11am-10pm. Hawthorn East, Moorabbin and Applecross (Perth): Mon-Thu 11:30am-9:30pm, Fri 11:30am-10:30pm, Sat 11am-10:30pm, Sun 11am-9:30pm. Officer: Mon-Thu 12pm-9pm, Fri 12pm-10pm, Sat 11am-10pm, Sun 11am-9pm. (Public holidays can vary, so give us a call if you're unsure.)
Which days are you open?
Every day of the week! All our venues are open seven days. The exact opening and closing times vary a little by location – Albert Park and Ascot Vale run the latest, and Officer opens from midday on weekdays – so check the hours for your venue or give us a call.
Is the halal meat cooked separately from non-halal items?
Great question – here's the honest detail. All our red meat is halal. That said, we smoke all our meats in the same smoker (they don't touch each other) and we don't run separate grills for different meats. We'd rather be upfront so you can decide what's right for you.
Can I buy your rubs and sauces, and do you ship?
You sure can! We've got an online shop with our rubs, sauces and merch, and we ship them right across Australia – so you can bring a bit of Third Wave BBQ home to your own backyard, wherever in the country you are.
When is Third Wave BBQ Gold Coast opening?
Queensland, your time is coming! Our Gold Coast venue is on track to open around late September 2026 – our very first spot outside Victoria and WA. It's not open just yet, so keep an eye on our socials for the official date and the moment bookings go live.
Is the Applecross / Perth venue open, and where is it?
Yes – Perth, we're already here! You'll find us at 888 Canning Hwy, Applecross WA 6153. We're open seven days: Mon-Thu 11:30am-9:30pm, Fri 11:30am-10:30pm, Sat 11am-10:30pm and Sun 11am-9:30pm. Give us a ring on (08) 5122 6734 if you need us.
Do you accept walk-ins?
Absolutely – walk-ins are always welcome! That said, we can get pretty busy, especially on weekends and for All You Can Eat Tuesdays, so if you want to be sure of a table we’d recommend booking ahead online.
Do you have a kids menu and high chairs?
We sure do! There’s a dedicated kids menu at all of our venues, and we’ve got high chairs available too – so the littlest BBQ fans are well looked after.
Can you host functions or large group bookings?
Yes! Our Hawthorn East venue has a function space that can host groups of up to 80 people – great for birthdays, work events and celebrations. Get in touch with the Hawthorn East venue to enquire about a function.
How do I order catering?
Catering is one of our specialties – head to our catering page to see the options and place your order. We cater everything from office lunches to big events.
Are your venues wheelchair accessible?
Yes – all of our venues are wheelchair accessible. If you have any specific access needs for your visit, give your venue a call ahead and we’ll make sure you’re looked after.
Do you have vegan options?
We do! Alongside our vegetarian dishes, we have vegan options on the menu so plant-based diners don’t miss out on the Third Wave experience. As always, let our staff know about any dietary needs when you order.
Are you dog-friendly?
At most of our venues, yes! Albert Park, Moorabbin, Hawthorn East and Ascot Vale are dog-friendly. Our Officer and Applecross (Perth) venues are not able to accommodate dogs.
Do you have outdoor seating?
Most of our venues do! You’ll find outdoor seating at Albert Park, Moorabbin, Hawthorn East and Ascot Vale. Our Officer and Applecross (Perth) venues are indoor only.
Is there a dress code?
Nope – keep it casual! Third Wave BBQ is a relaxed, come-as-you-are kind of place. Just bring your appetite.
Which venues offer All You Can Eat, and do you do Bottomless Brunch?
All You Can Eat is available at all six of our venues, every Tuesday from 5:30pm. We don’t currently run a Bottomless Brunch at any location – All You Can Eat Tuesday is the one to come in for!
